Abstract

The purpose of this article is to trace the period in which important debates about the electoral mechanism occurred in Italy in order to hypothesize a connection between the administrative proportional reform of 1920 and the Acerbo Law of 1923. The contextualization of the events will prove crucial to understand the reasons that led the different actors and parties to make their choices. The difficult Italian political climate of these years is explained not only through the different electoral techniques but through the system itself.
